The Permanent Mission of Germany to the UN offers groups of visitors the possibility for conversations on the role and activities of the Permanent Mission as well as on specific UN topics according to prior arrangements. Staff members of the Permanent Mission are happy to answer questions and engage in discussions. Conversations can be done in German or English language.

To request a visit, please use our contact form (select the topic “Visitor groups”).

We cannot guarantee that we will be able to offer an appointment on a specific day. Therefore, we kindly ask you to send us your request as far in advance as possible and with time flexibilities. Also, during certain periods of the year, such as during and around the annual UN General Assembly High-Level Week in September, no slots for visiting groups are available.

Please note that guests undergo a security check when entering the German House. Since this can take some time for larger groups, we advise you to arrive at the German House ahead of time.

The Permanent Mission does not organize visits to the United Nations premises and cannot help in your correspondence with the UN services. Please contact the UN Visitors Service directly.

Model United Nations

Every spring, over 5,000 students from all over the world come together in New York to simulate the work of the United Nations during a “Model United Nations” (MUN) simulation game.
In the simulation, each group of participants is assigned a member state of the United Nations, which they represent throughout the MUN. In various bodies and committees, the official stance of the government of their assigned nation must then be represented as accurately as possible.

The simulation strives to mirror real UN procedures, with delegations drafting and debating their own resolutions and reports according to the UN Rules of Procedure.

The Permanent Mission of Germany to the UN provides participating delegations from both German and foreign nations with the chance to meet German diplomats as part of their preparation for the Model United Nations simulation. This offers valuable insights into the practical aspects of working in a multilateral environment.

If you’re interested in this opportunity, please reach out through our contact form and select “Visitor groups” to schedule an appointment. As we see a very large number of requests for the weeks around MUN in springtime, we ask groups for understanding that we might need to combine several groups in one time slot at the German House.

Please note that neither the United Nations nor the German Permanent Mission are organizers of the “Model United Nations”.
