Willkommen auf den Seiten des Auswärtigen Amts
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Musicians of the Fulda Youth Chamber Orchestra,
It is my pleasure to welcome you all on behalf of the German Mission to the UN.
There are six official languages at the UN. But there is only one universal language which can be understood by all: Music!
We are delighted to have you - the Youth Chamber Orchestra Fulda - join us today for a musical performance at the UN Headquarters (to sweeten our lunch break).
The symphonic chamber Orchestra consists of 33 performers, aged between 12 and 22. The group is based in the German state of Hessen where they regularly perform in front of sold-out audiences.
The concert program will celebrate the ethnic diversity of the orchestra’s members with a selection of pieces from different composers (the Russian Anatoly Liadov, the English composer Edward Elgar, the Austrian Wolfgang A. Mozart, the Hungarian Béla Bartók, the American Elmar Bernstein…)
I would also like to extend a special warm welcome to Music Director and conductor Martin Klüh, who has a previous history with the UN. During the celebrations of the UN’s 50th anniversary, 22 years ago, he worked here as a security officer. Welcome back!
Without further ado, I now pass the floor to the formidable young musicians who are with us today.
Enjoy the concert!
